Role of Different Pre-Treatments on Composition and Rheology of Synovial Fluids
نویسندگان
چکیده
Different pre-treatments applied to synovial fluids (SF) before their analyses are tested to characterize SF after storage under different conditions and to investigate their evolution along a viscosupplementation treatment. The main techniques proposed involve steric exclusion chromatography with triple detection (SEC) and viscometry; it is the first time that such a study is developed. SEC gives the molecular weight distribution and concentration of hyaluronan (HA) and proteins separately; the steady state viscosity is always non-Newtonian and not directly related to SF composition. Pre-treatment of SF (storage in cold, filtration, centrifugation) allows us to conclude that, in order to store SF, it is best to freeze it, even if in some cases, viscosity is modified but not the composition. All the data obtained (including protease pre-treatment) allow us to conclude that a small fraction of HA-protein complex forms a loose 3D-network and controls the rheology. OPEN ACCESS

Investigation of the Fractional Composition Effect of the Carbonate Weighting Agents on the Rheology of the Clayless Drilling Mud
The article considers the issue of reducing the influence of clayless mud components on the filtration parameters of the reservoir. In the composition of such solutions, calcium carbonate of various fractions is often added as a weighting and colmatizing additive. It is generally accepted that weighting bridging agents are sufficiently inert substances and their addition does not affect the rhe...
متن کاملInvestigating the Effect of Polythin and Polydrill on the Properties of Drilling Fluids
In this study, synthetic sulfonated polymers were used in order to enhance the rheological properties of drilling fluids. The capability of these polymers in reducing the effects of environmentally friendly, but harmful, pollutants such as cement, calcium chloride, gypsum as well as pH changes were investigated. In the present work, two sulfonated synthetic polymers, namely Polythin and Polydri...
متن کاملExtensional rheology of human saliva
We have developed an oscillatory cross-slot extensional rheometer capable of performing measurements with unprecedentedly small volumes of test fluids (∼10–100 μL). This provides the possibility of studying exotic and precious or scarce bio-fluids, such as synovial fluid. To test our system, we have looked at a relatively abundant and accessible biological fluid, namely human saliva; a complex ...
متن کاملSynovial fractalkine plays important role in cytokines’ related knee edema variation in rat arthritis model
Introduction: The systemic and local content of inflammatory cytokines and chemokines play substantial roles in pathophysiology of arthritis. This study was purposed to verify the roles of synovial TNF-α, IL-6 and fractalkine (Fkn) in edema changes during different stages of Complete Freund’s Adjuvant (CFA)-induced knee arthritis in rats. Methods: 168 male Wistar rats were divided i...

Introduction: Apoptosis dysregulation plays a substantial role in the pathophysiology of chronic inflammation and its related symptoms such as edema. Regulation of NF-ĸB activation is involved in apoptosis pattern change. The current study aimed at verifying the effects of local inflammation on edema and changes in apoptotic markers, and investigating the possible role of NF-ĸB in apoptosis pat...
